Our Health Advisors are often the first voice patients hear when they contact the NHS111 service. Using clinically approved software, they assess needs, offer advice, and signpost to the right care – 24/7. This is a role where calm communication, empathy, and critical thinking come together to support people in their most vulnerable moments. With full training, support, and progression routes into operational roles, this is where many meaningful healthcare careers begin.
Our Clinical Advisors are registered nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals who provide expert telephone-based clinical assessments and advice. Working alongside Health Advisors, they support complex triage decisions and play a key role in safely navigating patients to urgent, emergency or self-care. With opportunities to work remotely or from one of our NHS111 centres, this is a dynamic and valued clinical role at the heart of our integrated urgent care service.
From community nursing to urgent treatment centres and specialist services, our nurses provide compassionate, patient-first care that adapts to different settings and needs. Whether you're delivering palliative care in the community or assessing patients in a busy urgent treatment centre, you’ll be part of a team that values autonomy, development, and making a difference where it matters most. We support ongoing education, advanced practice training and leadership pathways to help you thrive in your nursing career.
Our Advanced Clinical Practitioners are experienced, multi-skilled clinicians working across services including urgent care, out-of-hours and remote assessment. With extended scope and responsibility, they deliver advanced patient assessments, diagnostics, prescribing and decision-making. At DHU, ACPs are respected clinical leaders and part of collaborative, multidisciplinary teams. We provide strong clinical supervision and development pathways, supporting your ambitions while recognising the level of skill and autonomy you bring.
Our GPs work beyond the traditional practice setting – supporting urgent treatment centres, out-of-hours care, home visiting, and virtual consultations. You’ll experience flexibility, variety and the chance to focus purely on clinical care in fast-paced environments. At DHU, we understand the value of your expertise and work-life balance, offering supported portfolios and opportunities to specialise or lead.
If you're a Registered Paramedic or Clinical Practitioner looking to expand your impact, DHU offers pathways into remote triage, urgent care, and home visiting roles. With support to develop your scope of practice – including prescribing or progressing into advanced roles – you'll apply your critical decision-making in a variety of settings, backed by strong multidisciplinary teams.
Our Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians play a growing role in supporting clinical services across DHU. Whether it’s supporting prescribing decisions, reviewing complex medication histories or contributing to our CAS team, pharmacy professionals are vital to safe and effective care. We offer flexible and remote working options, investment in training, and integration into wider clinical decision-making teams.
As a Healthcare Assistant at DHU, you’re a key part of the clinical care team. Working in community settings, practices or urgent care environments, you’ll support patients with hands-on care, monitoring and health promotion. With a clear development pathway – from Care Certificate to assistant practitioner and nurse apprenticeships – DHU is a place where you can start, grow and shape a long-term career in healthcare.
Behind every great healthcare team is a dedicated group of professionals supporting from the centre. From People and Culture and communications to finance, governance and IT, our corporate teams ensure that our services run smoothly and compliantly – always with our people and patients in mind. Whether you're launching your career or bringing expertise from another sector, these roles are crucial in shaping the future of care at DHU.
